CANCELED — Story City Troupe

August 7 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm EDT

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, our theme for February is “Love Hurts!” There’s so many ways we love, not just the romantic form, and just as many ways our hearts can be broken.Sometimes it’s just a twinge, others a painful lesson, and some just darn funny!  Well, in retrospect if not in the moment.

Our tellers for the month will be: Sharen McKay, Saul Fussiner, Denise Santisteban (I’ll bet you remember how to pronounce her name after her story last month!), Jezrie Marcano-Courtney and our grand MC, Mike Isko. Also joining us after a long hiatus will be Jill Wruble, and we’re so glad to welcome her back!

The Buttonwood Tree is proud to host  Story City Troupe for a recurring “Moth Style” storytelling event. The audience is invited to participate to share a story of their own, by entering their name in to the hat. Their story does not need to follow the theme, although it is encouraged. One or two names will be chosen randomly out of the hat after SCT tellers are done, depending on the time.
Story City is a troupe of storytellers based in the Hartford, CT area and mentored by Matt Dicks, one of The Moth’s champion storytellers. Story City Troupe uses The Moth Formula: all are true, personal stories, often funny, sometimes amazing, poignant or ironic and based on a single theme for the evening. The troupe members range in age from their 20’s to their 70’s, proving you can come up with a good story at any age.
You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll identify!

This group is led by Sue Huggans and welcomes new members. New topics every month.
