(Cancelled) Laughter Yoga with Dawn

Hosted and led by local healer, Dawn Tyson, Laughter Yoga is a class that enables you to practice laughing so that when life happens and it gets difficult, you can laugh and change your perspective and state of mind. It involves child-like play with meditation and breathing exercises and laughing (no yoga mats needed).
Some benefits of laughter yoga include: Easy and fun exercise for health and happiness, reduces stress instantly, strengthens immune system, keeps you in a good mood and cheerful throughout the day, oxygenates your brain and makes you feel more energetic, keeps positive mental attitude in difficult times, burns calories and even increases memory.
Dawn Tyson is a Case Manager full time at TCI for SHF. She’s a single mom of an adult son. In everyday life she uses laughing as a coping skill to deal with the stresses of everyday life. She recently became certified as a Laughter Yoga Instructor November 5, 2017.
Laughter Yoga was discovered in India by Dr. Katuria and his wife and was brought to the United States in the early 90’s. Get more laughter into your own life! Laughter has proven to help with anxiety, blood pressure, and decreasing stress. Laughter Yoga is a unique exercise routine, which combines unconditional laughter with yogic breathing (Pranayama). Anyone can laugh without relying on humor, jokes or comedy. Laughter is initially simulated as physical exercise while maintaining eye contact with others in the group and promoting childlike playfulness. In most cases, this soon leads to real and contagious laughter. Science has proven that the body cannot differentiate between simulated and real laughter. Laughter Yoga is the only technique that allows adults to achieve sustained hearty laughter without involving cognitive thought. This powerful experience often leads to a healthy emotional catharsis and a feeling of release and joyfulness that can last for days.
