Eric Kuhn with Noah Baerman and Dave Kopperman
July 22, 2016 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm EDT$10
Eric Kuhn, Noah Baerman, and Dave Kopperman are all multi-faceted performers, songwriters and bandleaders. On this evening we will be treated to solo sets of mostly original songs by each artist along with collaborative jams on one another’s material and quite possibly a stump speech by Eric for his presidential campaign.
Eric Kuhn has been a presence on the local music scene since the Reagan administration. He plays in The Bus, the rock trio with Michael Cleary and Paul Bozzi, and is musical director for the Middletown Children’s Circus. Eric is a host emeritus of Anything Goes Open Mic at The Buttonwood Tree. His latest album, Politics, a satiric romp through the Obama years (including this one) provides the impetus for the current show. In his Eric for President show, Eric looks at the Obama years through a cracked rear mirror and peers at the political road ahead through a spider-webbed windshield. The show is part campaign speech, part press conference, and part concert. Rated W for moderate wonkishness.
Dave Kopperman’s eclectic music at once evokes the folksy harmonies of the Byrds, the tuneful songwriting of Paul McCartney, the literate yet emotive lyrics of Paul Simon, the ambient, progressive textures of Pink Floyd and the no-nonsense rocking of Talking Heads. A jack-of-all-trades as a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Dave is also a skilled visual artist and devotee of the graphic novel form. He is a native of Rockland County, New York.
Best known as a jazz pianist, composer, and educator, Noah Baerman on this evening will be wearing his singer-songwriter hat. Under the moniker Are You Sure, his 2014 EP I Want You to Know announces his return to singing, pop/folk/blues songwriting, and guitar playing, pursuits largely dormant for 20-plus years. He is also the Artistic Director of the non-profit Resonant Motion, an organization committed to the intersection of music and positive change, and President of the affiliated label RMI Records.
