A Night of Original Poetic Riddles and Music
David Houston is a longtime friend of The Buttonwood Tree. He participated in the first poetry reading in the old space on Rapallo Ave. in 1989, and has since been featured four times, the last being 6-8-98. David Houston will perform at The Buttonwood Tree on Saturday, February 29th in a show called “Leap Night”, with themes such as Re-acquaintance, Inspiration, Motivation, and Renaissance. He will be reading two chapters from two novels he is writing, as well as original riddles in poetic form. There will be audience participation as the guests will be encouraged to solve them as he reads.
Four musicians will be performing in the background- Michael Arefeh, Barry “Bear” Bickmore, Sam Connor, and Eben Ross. They will play original music, as well as covers before the introductions, during the break, afterward, and as background to at least one of the Chapters. David will be reminiscing about history and events regarding the old space on Rapallo Ave., which began as a used bookstore, Ibis Books. He will tell some inspiring stories regarding the founder and creator, Suzie Alison who he fondly regards as one who motivated and encouraged himself and countless others. Suggested Donation of $10.00.
