Free at Last Players

January 20, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Title of Show:

The Evolution of Trump?

Can the Free At Last Players show our new President the light?

Have you ever felt anxious or down for an extended period of time?  Has anything ever affected you for a long time in a bad way? Have you ever felt like an outcast? Of course, most people would answer “yes” to at least one of these questions. The plight of the “mentally ill” is that they answer “yes” to these questions more than others – to the point that they may see themselves and may be seen by others as being different.

In our everyday interactions with those around us, we tend to touch only on what is considered “normal”. Afraid to share what’s really on our minds with those around us, we may begin to feel isolated.

By creating a venue where these “beneath the surface” issues are brought to the forefront, the Free At Last Players bring the isolated back to the rest of the world.

Free At Last Players performances consist of skits, poems and songs that present an inside perspective on “mental illness”. Through music, drama and comedy, the group provides an understanding of the realities of “mental illness”.

The Free At Last Players believe that it is wrong to segregate those with mental health issues from the rest of society. The mission of the group is to help audiences appreciate this point of view by emphasizing that there is more that unites us than divides us.

In addition to an entertaining and educational performance, the Free At Last Players provide an open forum for discussion of the difficulties encountered by those dealing with mental health issues in our culture. The group recognizes the difficulties in overcoming perceived and real differences between people. Through their performances, the Free At Last Players provide an opportunity for learning, contemplation and discussion.
